What we were up against.

The client builds a next-generation design tool for design systems at scale. Their static screenshots looked stunning, but their existing video content — recorded screen captures with mouse movements — failed to convey the fluidity and intelligence of their product.

The company was preparing for a Series B fundraise and needed a hero video for their pitch deck and website redesign. Investors were increasingly asking, "Why can't I just use Figma?" They needed a video that answered that question without saying a single word.

The design team had spent months perfecting micro-interactions, transition states, and animation curves within the product. But none of that polish came through in standard screen recordings. They needed someone who could capture the feel of using the product, not just the features.

The challenge was technical as well as creative: the canvas is GPU-intensive, and standard screen capture tools introduced stuttering and frame drops. We needed to build a custom capture pipeline that could record 60fps UI animations without any performance degradation.

How we tackled it.

We approached this as a product visualization project, not a typical demo video. The goal was to create a 60-second piece that felt like a choreographed performance of the interface.

First, we spent a full day with the lead designer walking through every interaction, every transition, and every micro-animation in the product. We catalogued over 40 unique motion behaviors — from the way objects snap to grids, to the subtle spring physics in the drag handles.

From that catalogue, we selected the 12 most visually impressive interactions and scripted a "journey" through the product that showcased them in sequence. The flow was designed to feel organic — like watching an expert designer use the tool at full speed.

For the capture pipeline, we used a high-FPS recording setup with hardware acceleration, capturing at 4K/60fps. We then enhanced the raw captures in post-production with subtle zoom movements, speed ramps, and depth-of-field effects that make the UI feel three-dimensional.

The color grading was critical. We applied a slight desaturation to the background UI and boosted the saturation of interactive elements, creating a natural focus guide that draws the eye to exactly where we want it.

What we delivered.

The 60-second video is a single, continuous flow through the interface:

Opening (0–10s): A blank canvas. An element appears with a satisfying spring animation. The camera slowly pushes in as the interface builds around it — toolbars, panels, layers. The message: "This is a workspace designed for serious work."

Build Sequence (10–30s): Rapid-fire design actions — creating components, applying design tokens, resizing with smart constraints. Each action has a visual payoff: the component library populates in real-time, design tokens cascade across the system, and responsive variants generate automatically.

System Showcase (30–45s): The pace slows. We show the design system view — a bird's-eye look at how components relate to each other. Animated connection lines, dependency maps, and version history. This is the "aha" moment for investors: this isn't just a design tool, it's a system intelligence layer.

Collaboration (45–55s): A second cursor appears. Two designers work simultaneously on the same file. Real-time collaboration with conflict resolution, branching, and commenting. The message: "Built for teams, not solo designers."

Close (55–60s): The full design system at rest. Clean, organized, beautiful. The product logo appears with a single tagline: "Design systems, delivered."

Every frame was color-graded to match the brand. Every transition was custom-animated — no default easing curves. The result feels less like a product demo and more like a product film.
